principal's corner

August 2018
We are pleased for you to meet our new Assistant Principal, Tony Gianfagna.

Wilson family,

I hope everyone has been able to enjoy the beautiful weather this summer and is able to take advantage of the remaining weeks of summer vacation.  It is with great pride and excitement that I am able to introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal of the Maynard P. Wilson Elementary School and Elementary Committee of Special Education Chairperson for the South Jefferson School District.

Graduating from Watertown High School and having taught special education at Indian River Middle School for seven years, I am invested in and proud to be serving the students of the North Country. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, wife and dog (Liv), whitewater kayaking, hunting, skiing, and mountain biking. It goes without saying that I am passionate about nature and absolutely love where I live, and yes, even in the winter!

What drew me most to the district is the sense of community and support that is so freely given by the faculty, staff, and administrative team.  I’ve long believed “it takes a village to raise a child” and believe it rings nowhere more true than in education today. I also believe in the power of a strong relationship between school and home and we will work tirelessly to establish this relationship.  I am excited to join a community who shares similar values and supports the growth and development of our students.

Again, it is an honor and a privilege to join the Spartan community.  I look forward to meeting and working with each and every one of you in the 2018-2019 school year.  If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

My best,
Tony Gianfagna (Mr. G)
